RAD Ballet Intermediate (13)
Classical Ballet is an essential element of every dancer’s repertoire. It creates balance, grace, agility, core strength and discipline. The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is one of the largest and most influential dance education and training organisations in the world. RAD was created with the objective to improve the standard of ballet teaching and in pursuit of that goal, a new teaching method and dance technique was created. The RAD teaching method is now taught in over 70 countries around the world, setting very high standards of dance training for over 250,000 students each year. The RAD international network of examiners travel the world examining pupils in the Syllabus at every level. The most identifiable aspect of the RAD method is the attention to detail when learning the basic steps, and the progression in difficulty is often very slow.

RAD Ballet Advanced Foundation (14)
Advanced Foundation RAD is a comprehensive program completed over two years, focusing on developing the fundamental skills necessary for classical ballet. This level is designed to refine balance, grace, agility, core strength, and discipline, which are essential components of a dancer’s repertoire.
The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), one of the largest and most influential dance education and training organizations globally, was established to elevate the standard of ballet instruction. To achieve this goal, RAD has developed a distinctive teaching method and technique. Currently, this approach is utilized in over 70 countries, setting high standards for dance training that benefits more than 250,000 students annually.
RAD’s international network of examiners assesses pupils at every level of the Syllabus, ensuring consistency and quality in ballet education. A hallmark of the RAD method is its meticulous attention to detail in teaching foundational steps, coupled with a carefully paced progression in difficulty, allowing students to master each skill before advancing.

Classical Technique (13-15)
While the difficulty of an exercise may only increase slightly from grade to grade, more importance is placed on whether the student is performing the step with improved technique. For example, plié exercises are employed consistently throughout the lower grades to enable the student to progressively deepen the plié and improve turnout. The principle behind this is that if enough time is spent achieving optimal technique before introducing new vocabulary, the easier it is for the student to learn the harder steps, while exercising basic technique to the maximum at all times. The RAD provides bountiful opportunities for all major students. Whether it be pursuing teaching or a career in dance, successfully passing your examinations provides you with world recognised qualifications.

Preparation for pointe classes continue with a focus on strength and safety in the dancers lower leg and foot. Developing the correct use and recruitment of muscles, tendons and ligaments for a new normal.

Jazz is an incredible genre that changes the atmosphere in a performance instantly, we believe in extending both the technique and performance capabilities of our students so that their confidence and self-worth is truly found.
Our Jazz students also have the option of taking weekly Jazz Technique and Jazz Combo classes that incorporate heel work and mentoring in industry preparation.

Classical Ballet enhances all genres and all dance technique. Over Clarity we increase the hours and options for Classical Open classes. Classical Technique classes continue to commence with advanced Progressing Ballet Technique before commencing a constructed class that will be formally assessed Terms 1-3 and then finishes with stretch focussing on increased flexibility. Pas de Deux training will also be given fortnightly.

At Crystal level students will be required to dance on pointe for the centre of some open classes as well as the open pointe work classes, this is to create a greater ease of movement en pointe.
It is the fastest way to both mentally stimulate and technically challenge a dancer thus staying true to our mission of being a studio where technique and artistry converge.

NZAMD Contemporary
Contemporary at the Crystal level draws on both classical ballet and modern dance, it combines the strong but controlled legwork of ballet with modern dance that focuses on the torso. It also employs contract-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristics of modern dance. Unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction are often used, as well. Additionally, for the Crystal level contemporary dance will incorporate elements of non-western dance cultures in the development of a versatile artist.
